Disney Oct/Nov 2008

I know it has been entirely too long since I last updated this page, but it has been very busy around here since we got home in November.

We have taken two more trips to the WORLD in Oct and Nov and loved both trips. Since we had been there twice earlier and commando'ed the parks those two trips, we decided to take it easier on these two.

In Oct the Food and Wine Festival was going on and was a lot of fun, but more expensive that we had originally thought. We tried out the Party for the Senses and what an amazing experience that was! Basically, you are handed a plate and wine glass at the beginning and you walk around to all these booths grabbing food and wine. They had all kinds of goodies from King Crab Macaroni and Cheese to Wild Boar ravioli! Everything was delicious and if we ever go back for the Festival, we will definitely try that again!

Otherwise the Food and Wine festival sets up all these neat little booths where you can try foods from all kinds of places. I will include some pics of the booths that we tried. My favorite by far was the San Francisco booth where I got Filet medallions with cheddar cheese polenta! YUM!!! They also had various wines and beers to try at the kiosks. It was a neat experience, just a little on the pricey side.

In Nov, we really didn't do much. We would go to the parks for a couple of hours every day, but the big event for us during this trip was eating! We tried the Disney Deluxe Dining plan which included 3 dining options a day plus a ton of snack credits. We decided to eat breakfast in the room, eat a lunch and try a signature dinner (takes 2 dining credits) each day. We got to try a lot of wonderful foods, but we determined our new favorite restaurant is Jiko at the Animal Kingdom lodge. Shane had his absolute favorite meal there which was some sort of BBQ beef rib. And I had the most incredible Filet Mignon and mac and cheese! But my appetizer was what I raved about. It was an Ostrich Filet served with Creamed sweet potatoes that were just absolutely amazing. I am getting hungry just thinking about it. Kind of amazing that our two favorite restaurants in all of Disneyworld are both located at the place we bought the majority of our Disney Vacation Club points, by the way, our other favorite is Boma, which is an African style buffet.

We also got to try some places that we had tried in the past and weren't all that fond of, but when we went this time, it was really good. Artist point was one of these. I am very glad that we decided we like this place again because that means when we go back for the holidays to Villas of Wilderness Lodge, we will have a lovely place to enjoy our meals at when we aren't cooking in our rooms.

One of the most interesting, and expensive, things I got to try while we were there was Australian Wagyu. Apparently it is the Australian version of Kobe beef. This particular piece of beef was a strip loin and it had to be the most amazing piece of beef I have ever had. Very tender and flavorful. The downside to this wonderful piece of meat is the fact that it cost $58! If we were dining at the Yachtsman's steakhouse and we were not on the dining plan, I do not think I would ever try it again. :)

Both trips were amazing and we cannot wait for the next trip to Disney with the Family. It should be a lot of fun!
